Repeat prescriptions are normally issued for one month at a time. We also operate a "batch system" for those prescriptions that are likely to remain stable for long periods of time which saves a lot of hassle.
Our preferred method of prescription request is now via the chemist. Please speak to your chemist and ask for it to be "nominated" and then they can request and recieve electronic prescriptions. Alternatively if you need a repeat issued pyou can hand in the right hand side of your prescription to the receptionist or put it in the prescription box.
The doctors need to check and sign these so please allow 2 working days before collection. Prescriptions can be posted if you enclose a S.A.E.
The doctors like to review treatment periodically so you may occasionally be asked to make an appointment. You will generally be asked to see the doctor before starting new treatment.
Although The Wash Common Pharmacy is located adjacent to the Surgery, it is privately run and not linked to the Surgery in any way. Our patients are able to use the pharmacy of their choice to obtain their medication.
We are transferring to the next stage of Electronic Prescribing from Feb 28th 2013. This means that if you "nominate" a chemist, all your prescriptions can be sent electronically to them saving time and paper, and vastly reducing the opportunity for prescriptions to be lost, mislaid etc. To take advantage of this please ask your chemist about "nomination" which essentially means choosing your preferred chemist.
At the same time we are closing the surgery "prescription hotline" as it shouldn't be needed and you can request repeat prescriptions directly from your nominated chemist. Therefore please ask your chemist about nomination and their arrangements for repeat medication at your next visit to them.
