Patients online

The Royal College of GPs has produced an interesting document describing the issues surrounding Patient Interactions with practices online here featuring Falkland Surgery as a case study

Retirement of Dr Sue Rendel

We are sad to announce Dr Sue Rendel will be retiring from the practice in June 2013. She has been a fantastic partner and a much loved GP to many, as well as playing a national role in GP training which she will continue into retirement. We are now looking for a replacement GP. Her patient list will be transferred across to the new GP in due course.

Pregancy Advice

We would like to remind all pregnant ladies to discuss with their doctor or midwife about getting protected against whooping cough and influenza (flu)

New PPG micro-site now live

SurgeryPod - We have now bought this device in the Patient Information Room. It is a computer directly linked to your records, and allows you to enter data such as smoking and BP, as well as complete assessments for depression, alcohol consumption etc. We hope this will prove popular allowing more time to be freed up for those who need it with the doctors and nurses.

vPPG - We are looking to recruit a number of patients to join our Patient Participation Group. You have two options, either to become a "full" member, or to join the virtual PPG, an online mailing list contributing comments. Please contact the PPG directly or ring and speak to Wendy in Reception

Repeat prescriptions are normally issued for one month at a time. We also operate a "batch system" for those prescriptions that are likely to remain stable for long periods of time which saves a lot of hassle.

Our preferred method of prescription request is now via the chemist. Please speak to your chemist and ask for it to be "nominated" and then they can request and recieve electronic prescriptions.  Alternatively if you need a repeat issued pyou can hand in the right hand side of your prescription to the receptionist or put it in the prescription box.

The doctors need to check and sign these so please allow 2 working days before collection. Prescriptions can be posted if you enclose a S.A.E.

The doctors like to review treatment periodically so you may occasionally be asked to make an appointment. You will generally be asked to see the doctor before starting new treatment.

Although The Wash Common Pharmacy is located adjacent to the Surgery, it is privately run and not linked to the Surgery in any way. Our patients are able to use the pharmacy of their choice to obtain their medication.

We are transferring to the next stage of Electronic Prescribing from Feb 28th 2013. This means that if you "nominate" a chemist, all your prescriptions can be sent electronically to them saving time and paper, and vastly reducing the opportunity for prescriptions to be lost, mislaid etc. To take advantage of this please ask your chemist about "nomination" which essentially means choosing your preferred chemist.

At the same time we are closing the surgery "prescription hotline" as it shouldn't be needed and you can request repeat prescriptions directly from your nominated chemist. Therefore please ask your chemist about nomination and their arrangements for repeat medication at your next visit to them.
