Sue Rendel, BA, MB BS, MRCP, DRCOG, FRCGP, graduated from Oxford University and St. Mary's Hospital Medical School in 1975. After spending 10 years in hospital medicine, specialising in diabetes Sue became a GP and joined the practice in 1986. She has continued her interest in diabetes by starting and helping to run the practice diabetic clinic. Sue has been an examiner for the Royal College of General Practitioners since 1994 and having been closely involved with developing the Clinical Skills Assessment, part of the exam that GPs have to pass at the end of their training, she is now Chief Examiner for the RCGP. as well as teaching on courses especially for the MRCGP exam and Consulting Skills.
Louise Titcomb MB, BS, MRCGP Royal Free Hospital & University of London - 1982. Dr Titcomb came back to Newbury after training at The Royal Free Hospital in London. She joined the practice in 1989 and works part time. She is married with three children.
Tim Walter, MB BS, DA, MRCGP. Tim qualified from Charing Cross Hospital Medical School, London, in 1985. After studying in Anaesthesia and General Practice he joined as a partner in 1991 whilst maintaining his anaesthetic practice for the first 8 years. He established the Out of Hours service, NEWDOCS, in 1996 and was chairman there for the first 2yrs. Between 1999 and 2002 he has helped steer the practice through the difficult decisions and process of relocation to Monks Lane, and is pleased to see the way all the hard work has paid off as the building developed. He has developed a keen interest in computing, both in the GP arena and specifically the internet. He currently runs the Emis National User Group mailing list and forum and also ran their website for 8 years, for the Emis computing system, used by about 50% of GP nationally. He has gently helped the practice to become as paper free as possible, and is always keen to grasp the opportunities that IT can offer to improving patient care. He completed the Certificate in Medical Education within the Oxford Deanery and Oxford Brookes University, and has been a trainer in the practice for since 2006. He is married with two children. He is the lead GP for diabetes, and performs minor surgery and implants in the practice, as well as IT Lead for the Newbury District Commissioning Group
Dr Ruth Lambert MBChB MRCGP DFFP Graduated from Leeds University Medical school in 1996. She spent some time working in Yorkshire and then Perth Australia working in a variety of general medical, A+E and paediatric posts.
She completed her GP training in Macclesfield where she focused on rheumatology and was involved in medical support of athletes and spectators at the Commonwealth games. She also worked part time at the local hospice and completed her palliative care certificate.
She joined the practice in 2004 and maintains an interest in rheumatology, palliative medicine and paediatrics.
Dr Angus Tallini MA MBChB MRCS (Ed) MRCGP DFFP Angus qualified from Cambridge University and Edinburgh Medical School in 1999. He trained for a year in Accident & Emergency in London and Bath before completing a surgical rotation in Bath and Bristol which included working in general surgery, urology, orthopaedics and plastic surgery. He continued training in plastic surgery when he moved to Wellington, New Zealand. Most recently, he has completed the Swindon GP Vocational Training Scheme, working at Ramsbury Surgery, Wiltshire for the last 2 years as part of this. He has an interest in minor surgery.
Dr Sarah Hall BSc MBBS DCH DRCOG DFFP MRCGP Dip Pal Med Sarah graduated from Imperial College School of Medicine in June 1999 after winning a Welcome Elective Prize in her final year to work with Acute Lung Injury Patients at Flinders Medical Centre in Australia. She completed a number of hospital appointments in the South East before joining Gillies Health Centre in Basingstoke as a GP registrar in May 2003, then moving on to Bramblys Grange Medical Practice in October 2004 as a salaried GP. Sarah became a GP partner at Falklands in October 2008.
Her interests include Palliative Care and Women’s Health. Sarah continues to work at the Sue Ryder Duchess of Kent House Hospice in Reading as a hospital practitioner one day per week. She is able to fit contraceptive implants and coils at the surgery.
Dr Leigh Williams MEng, MBBS, MRCGP, DRCOG. Leigh was born and brought up in South Wales. He graduated from Oxford
University in 1991 with a masters degree in Engineering
Science and then spent an year travelling. He worked
in the offshore oil and gas industry in the North Sea and
the Gulf of Mexico before moving to the steel industry as
an electrical engineer for Allied Steel and Wire in
Cardiff. In 1999 he moved to this part of the world to
write software for Vodafone, but soon after decided to
change career entirely and started medical school at St.
George’s in London as a mature student. He graduated in
2004 and worked as a junior doctor in several departments
at the Royal Berkshire Hospital, including A&E,
orthopaedics, obstetrics and gynaecology and paediatrics.
He spent a year as GP registrar at Tilehurst Surgery
Reading before joining the Falkland Surgery in 2009. He is
married with two young daughters.
Dr Debbie Peter MBChB, MRCGP, DFFP Debbie graduated with honours from the University of Cape Town in 1995 and after spending 2 years working at Groote Schuur Hospital in Cape Town she moved to the UK. She spent 4 years in hospital medicine in Truro, Exeter and Cheltenham before training as a GP in Painswick in the Cotswolds. She spent time as a senior registrar gaining further experience in palliative medicine before taking up GP appointment in Stroud. After 3 and a half years she and her family moved to Winchester and she has worked at The Falkland Surgery since 2007. Her areas of special clinical interest are family planning and women’s health.
Dr Yasmin Al-Sam BM, MRCGP, DRCOG, DCH, DFSRH, Loc IUT & SDI, qualified with honors as a doctor in 2004 from Southampton University Medical school. After working as a Junior Doctor in Winchester and Southampton General Hospital she then trained to be a GP in Reading and joined the Falkland Surgery as a GP Registrar in 2008. Having fully qualified as a GP in 2009, she has continued working at the practice and has been a part-time Salaried GP since April 2010. Yasmin helps run the practice Diabetic clinic and also provides locum work for other surgeries. Her other interests include Family planning services and she is able to fit coils and contraceptive implants.
